Over the course of the year, we have numerous courses we offer to the boating community. In addition, we work with a number of other associations to provide space for them to offer their courses.

RYA Coastal Skipper/Yachtmaster Offshore Theory - Jan. 17 to April 10th - Provided by Discovery Sailing

Advanced training for more experienced skippers building on the RYA Day Skipper or CYA Coastal Navigation courses or equivalent. This is an advanced course that equips you to navigate safely on coastal and offshore passages. It allows some time for revision of the basics and then moves on to advanced navigation techniques.
This course will take your theory knowledge to the standard required for the RYA Coastal Skipper and Yachtmaster Offshore practical exams, concentrating on advanced navigation and meteorology skills.
The course includes the RYA’s specially designed chart plotter software will be used during the course to give you a realistic taste of modern electronic navigation.  Course material includes practice charts, a Portland plotter, almanac,  workbook RYA Logbook, chart plotting software and other material.
The course is taught over 40 hours with three exam papers. Price $575.00 plus $200 for course material, plus HST.

Canadian Yachting Association - Basic Power Boating Course

This course provides the necessary skills to enable individuals to operate safetly in local waters as a skipper of a powerboat powered by and engine over 10hp.  Students must be 17 years of age or older

Learn safety, boat handling, basic navigation and emergency procedures.  the course will be taught over a series of 7-8 weeks on Wednesday evenings 6-9pm.  Classroom theory will be taught from mid March to early May with the on the water sessions taking place in mid May. 

Successful students will be awarded theor CYA Basic power Boating Standard and the Pleasure Craft Operator Card.

Students will be required to write 2 exams during the program to complete the certification process.  All learning materials and testing boat will be provided.

Course taking place at Shining Waters Marine.  Register early as seating will be very limited.
